Vice presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio continues to hammer home her message of unity wherever she goes on the campaign trail.

Over in Bacolod, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, Feb. 23, Duterte-Carpio emphasized that with unity and cooperation, Filipino can address all of the problems besetting the country.

“Ang UniTeam po ang kailangan ng ating bayan. Ano ba ang kailangan ng ating bayan? (The country needs UniTeam. What else does the country need?)" the presidential daughter and Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) chairperson asked locals during a rally at Bredco Port reclamation area.

"Unang-una, kailangan natin ibalik ang mga trabaho na nawala dahil sa pandemya. At paano ba tayo makakakuha ng magagandang trabaho? Kung mayroon tayong kalidad na edukasyon para sa ating mga kabataan. At ang pangatlo, ang gusto ng lahat ng tao, hindi lang ng mga Pillipino, mapayapang pamumuhay (First of all, we need to bring back the jobs that we're lost because of the pandemic. How can we get good jobs? We will, if we have quality education for our youth. And third, what everybody wants, and not just Filipinos, is a peaceful life)," Duterte-Carpio said.

“Ang mensahe ng UniTeam ay pagkakaisa, yoon po ang emphasis namin, magagawa natin lahat yan kung tayo, kapag napili na natin kung sino yung mga gusto nating lider sa darating na eleksyon, isang direksyon tayong lahat patungo sa tuloy-tuloy na kaunlaran ng ating bansa (UniTeam's message is that of unity, that is our emphasis, we can accomplish all of those once we choose in the elections our preferred leaders who will bring our country to the sole direction of progress),” she stressed.

The so-called "UniTeam" is composed of Duterte-Carpio and Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) standard-bearer, former senator Bongbong Marcos.

Duterte-Carpio and Marcos campaigned together in Bacolod, although this hasn't always been the case. Their senatorial line-up joined them in the rally.

Twenty-five of the province’s 31 town mayors, along with several lawmakers committed their support to the frontrunning BBM-Sara ticket.

Also on Wednesday, Marcos and Duterte-Carpio held a dialogue with sugar planters, farmers, and local officials in Negros Occidental--the country’s biggest sugar producer. Sugar producers have earlier complained about continued sugar importation, which hurt the local industry.

The two May 2022 poll candidates promised to look into the problems of the sugar industry and offer possible solutions.
