Poe urges gov’t to safely repatriate Filipinos in Ukraine

Senator Grace Poe on Thursday appealed to the Philippine government to prioritize the possible repatriation of the Filipinos in Ukraine where military tension is now high over Russia’s impending invasion.

“All hands should be on deck for the urgent evacuation of Filipinos from Ukraine amid looming military operations,” Poe said in a statement.

“The safety of our people is our primary concern; they must feel the government's presence every step of the way,” she stressed.

Upon repatriation, Poe said the government should extend assistance to them until they are reunited with their families.

“We continue to pray for a peaceful resolution, stability in the region, and the safety of our countrymen and women abroad,” she said.

Senate President Vicente Sotto III, on the other hand, has full trust that the DFA is already on to of the situation.

“I have full trust and confidence in capabilities and leadership of the DFA. Secretary Locsin would know what to do and we will ask for a briefing thereafter,” Sotto said.
