Expect to see all the presidential candidates in the May 2022 polls in the debate that the Commission on Elections (Comelec) is organizing next month.

Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez on Thursday, Feb. 24, said "all of the candidates have signified their commitment to attend the first debate, at least."
"We are looking forward to that," he said during the signing of their Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Rappler in Intramuros, Manila.
The 10 presidential candidates are Ernesto Abella, Leody de Guzman, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso, Norberto Gonzales, Senator Ping Lacson, Faisal Mangondato, former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., Jose Montemayor Jr., Senator Manny Pacquiao, and Vice President Leni Robredo.
The poll body has set the debate on March 19.
Jimenez said the candidates will be given an idea of what the topics will be, what the general topics will be, but "will not be given specific questions to be asked."
He added that all candidates will not be allowed to bring anything on stage.
"We will provide them pad and a pen on the podium. But, they will no be allowed to bring notes to the debate," he said in a separate interview.
In January, Jimenez expressed confidence that the candidates will attend the debates.
"It isn't obligatory. It isn't mandatory and its never been mandatory...but in our history, experience when its organized by Comelec there's 100 percent attendance unless there's legitimate health concerns," he said.
"Other than that the compliance of the candidates have been very good," Jimenez added.
The Comelec is also set to hold a vice presidential debate on March 20. Eight of the nine vice presidential bets have said they will join in the debates.
