TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan -- A seven-year-old boy was crushed to death inside a concrete mixer which was accidentally switched on at Kim Hollow Block compound Lecaros Extension, Ugac Sur, Tuguegarao City.
A report from the Cagayan Provincial Police Office revealed that the victim and his friends were playing at the hollow block mixer machine at about 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 23, when the machine was accidentally switched on crushing the victim and causing his instantaneous death.

Probers identified the victim as Jasper Canap , a resident of Lecaros Extension, Ugac Sur, Tuguegarao City, while his friends were identified as Aljon Dave Tumaliuan, 14, Grade 7; Summer Krent Balubal, 7, Grade 1; Mc Deyvin Atara, 8, Grade 2; Aeron Fulig, 10, Grade 4; John Loyd Bulaqui, 7, Grade 5; Richard Banguilan, 11, Grade 5; and Richmond Banguilan, 11, Grade 5, all residents of Lecaros Extension, Ugac Sur, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.
Investigator-on-case SSgt. Josephus Gaspar told Manila Bulletin that the victim's internal organs were damaged and his eyes popped out of their sockets.
“Everybody was shocked and no one among the children would confess who switched on the machine,'' he added.
The mixer has not been in use since 2021 as construction work was halted due to the pandemic, according to the report.
Rescue 1111 of Tuguegarao City responded and assessed the victim while the SOCO team led by PMAJ Winchelle Shayne B Odasco inspected the crime scene.
The cadaver of the victim was brought to Funeraria Baquiran, Barangay Caggay, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan for post-mortem examination.
