While PROMDI party presidential candidate Senator Manny Pacquiao would certainly welcome President Duterte’s potential endorsement, he has expressed reservations in complying with two conditions set by Malacañang to earn it.

In a media interview at Farmers Market in Quezon City on Wednesday, Feb. 23, Pacquiao said that if elected president, he would pursue Duterte’s war against illegal drugs but do it the “right way”.
He also made an assurance that investigators of the International Criminal Court (ICC) will be allowed into the country and conduct their probe on the administration's drug war provided that they will observe the laws of the land.
Continuing the war against drugs and banning ICC investigators into the country are two of the 11 conditions set by Duterte in order for him to support the presidential bid of a certain candidate.
“Ako kasi sa tama lang tayo. Kung umpisahan mong pagtakpan ang isang kamalian, kung umpisahan mo pagtakpan and isang kasalanan, ano ang magiging pagkakaiba nito sa corrupt na opisyal, anong pagkakaiba mo sa trapong mga pulitiko? (I only side with what is right. If you start to cover up a wrongdoing, if you start covering up a sin, what the makes you different from a corrupt official? What makes you different from a traditional politician?)" he asked.
Pacquiao stated that the war on drugs is placed high in his platform of governance.
“Itutuloy ang war on drugs in the right way. Hindi natin papatayin sila sa daan. Bibigyan natin sila ng karapatan na idepensa ang sarili sa korte (We shall continue the war on drugs in the right way. We will not allow them to be killed on the streets. They will be granted the right to defend themselves before the courtsl,” stated the presidential bet who also represents the PDP-Laban (Pimentel wing) as its standard-bearer.
Duterte’s war on drugs has been bloody and reportedly resulted in the death of over 10,000 suspected drug pushers and users.
Serious allegations of human rights violations and mass killings have reached the ICC, prompting the international judicial body to approve an investigation.
The Duterte government has been blocking the ICC probe by denying its investigators entry into the Philippines.
“Isang demokrasya ang bansa natin. Kung may mag-investigate sa atin na taga-ibang bansa, eh di payagan natin pero kailangan sumunod sila sa protocols nain na hindi map-violate ang mga batas sa ating bansa.(We are a democratic country. If an international investigation is to be conducted, we should allow it so long as they will observe the laws of the land),” he said.
