DepEd should boost info on martial law in PH educ curriculum--Sotto
Vice presidential candidate Vicente Sotto III on Wednesday emphasized the need for education authorities to give utmost importance to history, including martial law, in the Philippine educational curriculum.

Sotto directed his appeal to the Department of Education (DepEd).
"We should look at the curriculum. Ang history malakas pa ba sa educational system natin? Dapat palakasin pa din (Is history still a strong? We should strengthen that)," Sotto said in an interview at the sidelines of the Lacson-Sotto campaign sortie in Batangas City, Batangas.
"Yung ang isang tingnan natin. Dapat asikasuhin ng DepEd (We should look at that. The DepEd should work on that)," Sotto stressed.
Sotto reiterated his belief there is no such thing as historical revisionism, only disinformation.
He made the remark two days before the 36th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution that ousted the dictatorial regime of former president Ferdinand Marcos.
Sotto said he believes no one could revise what happened in 1986 and the "flame of EDSA should remain."
"Hindi natin mababago ang history. Nangyari 'yun. Di ba kaya inaalala ng karamihan (We cannot change history. it happened, that is why we are commemorating it)," the Senate leader said.
"Mayroong mga iba gustong kalimutan pero nangyari (There are people who wants to forget about it, but it happened)," he further said.
"We can never revise history. You can only start disinforming people, yes, but that's not revising history. History happened and it is there," Sotto said.
