Barangay-run daycare center in Pasig City earns outstanding rating from DSWD

The child development center of Barangay San Antonio (BSA) in Pasig City earned a level three accreditation or an “outstanding” rating from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Monday, Feb. 21.

BSA is the sole child development center fully managed and operated by the barangay, in contrast to the other centers that are managed by the city government.

The level three accreditation to the daycare center is valid for five years.

In a statement on Wednesday, Feb. 23, BSA Chairman Raymond Lising said the barangay upholds the provision of accessible basic education to children in preparing them for the kinder to grade 12 (K-12) program.

The accreditation of their center further encouraged the members of the barangay committee on education to develop its efforts in providing efficient services to all its residents.

"BSA will continue to strive to deliver quality education and prepare our young constituents with their educational journey. Through these efforts, our goal is to produce young active citizens that can make an impact in our community in the future," Lising said.

The committee utilized its resources efficiently amid the difficulties it encountered in meeting the standards for accreditation.

Lising assured the commitment of the barangay and the cooperation of the officials and teachers during the assessment period.

“We were really following and complying with all the indicators present in the evaluation tools,” Lising added.

The accreditation was based on compliance to the standards set in the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) programs by the DSWD.

During Monday's (Feb. 21) flag-raising ceremony at the Pasig City Hall, 57 child development centers and 59 childcare workers were recognized by the local government.

Councilor Pauline Lacson Blando and the teachers of the San Antonio Playschool joined Lising as representatives of the barangay.
