4 key cities still have 'very high' COVID positivity rate -- OCTA

The independent research group OCTA on Wednesday, Feb. 23, said the positivity rate of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in four highly urbanized cities remained "very high."
In an update via Twitter, OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David shared that Puerto Princesa City (39 percent), General Santos City (33 percent), Iligan City (21 percent), and Naga City (21 percent) still have very high positivity rates as of Feb. 22.
Positivity rate refers to the number of individuals who yielded positive results from among those who were tested for COVID-19.
OCTA also observed "high" positivity rates in Ormoc City (19 percent), Iloilo City (15 percent), Cagayan de Oro City (12 percent), Cotabato City (11 percent), and Zamboanga City (11 percent).
The research group's data also showed that "very low" positivity rates were observed in Angeles City (2 percent), Lucena City (2 percent), and Lapu-Lapu City (3 percent), while "low" positivity rates were recorded in Bacolod City (4 percent) and Dagupan City (4 percent).
Meanwhile, Metro Manila's COVID positivity rate further decreased to 4 percent on Feb. 22--down from 4.9 percent on Feb. 21.
According to the benchmark set by the World Health Organization, a positivity rate of below 5 percent should be maintained for 14 days before the transmission of COVID-19 can be considered "controlled."
