MEDIUM RARE

Where in the world can you find a president of his country who’s willing to kneel and beg the vaccine-resistant to take a shot, otherwise he’d inject them in one ear and let it go out the other ear?
Hilarious! Complete with hand gestures and a straight face, Mr. Duterte made the threat with no regard for human rights and no fear of the Commission on Human Rights nor International Criminal Court. The people will miss PRRD for his jokes and crazy threats. So what if Ukraine’s president is an ex-TV comedian? Our president is a lawyer, ex-mayor, ex-congressman, ex-fiscal, an amateur singer with only two songs to his repertoire. At one time, he promised to push down the stairs any civil servant who didn’t follow auditing rules. More recently, he threatened to inject unvaccinated senior citizens and other stay-at-homes in their sleep, and was quickly seconded by his IATF general, Carlito Galvez, who warned: “We will carry them out bodily.”
None of these threats have happened, the more’s the pity, now that the President has started to pack for the journey home and unwind one day at a time, though seemingly unmindful of his administration party’s unfunny fade-out in the thick of an exciting presidential campaign. Maybe we should add one talent or virtue to the list of what to look for in the next president: a sense of humor, the ability to entertain and make us laugh when we’re down and out, at our worst and our lowest. Remember the time when there was a muted clamor for Dolphy to make a run for president, whether it was said in jest or just because Dolphy’s popularity was at its height? And how did Dolphy, the king of comedy, thank his fans? He told them: “Supposing I win --?”
A presidential campaign, alas, is a serious thing – so serious that we’ve seen only candidate Yorme smiling, grinning from ear to ear, at his own attempts at saying something funny. (Yorme has the advantage of years of acting in front of a camera.) Candidate Ping cracked a joke but TV viewers didn’t catch his audience’s response when he said, “Even the corrupt, they’re against corruption.” So funny it hurts!
