Baguio LGU fast-tracks completion of 30 high-impact infra projects

BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Benjamin Magalong said here that he would leave "no stone unturned" as the city government fast-tracks the completion of 30 high-impact infrastructure projects that will help spur the city's economic development.

Magalong, during the Management Committee meeting on Monday, Feb. 21, said the construction of the 30 projects will be accelerated “in full earnestness” this year.

“Governance must never cease or even be influenced by political considerations,” he said, as he cited the multi-sectoral benefits the city will derive from these projects.

Among these projects are the Market Modernization, the Inter-zonal Transport Terminal facilities, the Youth Convergence and Sports Center, the Smart Mobility and Transportation Center, the Gov Pack Road re-development, the Digital Transformation Center, the Burnham Park re-development, the Bayan Park rehabilitation, the Baguio Sewerage Rehab, the Irisan Housing Project, the Sidewalk Green Project, the Abbatoir Modernization Project, the Dominican Hill conservation project, and the Educational Assistance Project.

“Let us, with full determination, get the city fully ready in meeting 'New Normal' challenges now that the pandemic is considerably on the wane. Many things will happen. For this year alone, we are going to implement these projects for the betterment of Baguio,” Magalong said.

Magalong inspected the ongoing rehabilitation works at the Baguio Botanical Garden.

“With these projects, we were able to provide more than 3,500 jobs. They will also spur our economic recovery,” he added.
