ILOILO CITY—More than 4.5 million people in the Western Visayas region have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Based on the data released by the Department of Health (DOH-6), 4.5 million is 70.32 percent of the 6.2 million population being targeted for COVID-19 vaccination.
As of February 21, Negros Occidental province had the most number of fully vaccinated persons with 1.17 million.
It is followed by Iloilo province with more than 1 million fully vaccinated persons.
There are 572,521 fully vaccinated persons in Bacolod City; 472,263 in Capiz province; 470,728 in Iloilo City; 362,357 in Aklan province; 281,538 in Antique province; and 108,612 in Antique province.
In terms of type of population, there were more than one million essential workers who were fully vaccinated, followed by the indigent population with 886,996. There were also 531,516 senior citizens and 607,296 adults with comorbidities who were fully vaccinated.
A total of 499,719 received their booster shots.
DOH-6 said more than 4.7 million people received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
