The Duffer Brothers pen an open letter to fans
Can you still remember the last time you saw an episode of “Stranger Things”? Well, it’s been a long time. After the pandemic paralyzed the world and numerous changes to the community quarantine status here in the Philippines, we are still waiting for its fourth season. But don’t worry, the Duffer Brothers—Matt and Ross—know what we are feeling.
As new images of the upcoming fourth season of Netflix’s sci-fi and horror series were released, the show’s creators penned an open letter to fans, detailing its progress and what fans should look forward to.
“With nine scripts, over pages, almost two years of filming, thousands of visual effects shots, and a runtime nearly twice the length of any previous season, ‘Stranger Things 4’ was the most challenging season yet, but also the most rewarding one,” the two wrote.
The Duffer Brothers also announced that “Stranger Things 4” will be divided into two volumes due to its “unprecedented length.” Volume One will premiere on May 27, while Volume Two on July 1.
As fans expected, the forthcoming season also marks the beginning of the end of the series’ run. According to the letter, the fifth season of “Stranger Things” will be its last.

“Seven years ago, we planned out the complete story arc for Stranger Things,” they wrote. “At the time, we predicted the story would last four or five seasons. It proved too large to tell in four, but—as you'll soon see for yourselves—we are now hurtling toward our finale.”
“There are still many more exciting stories to tell within the world of Stranger Things; new mysteries, new adventures, new unexpected heroes,” the brothers continued. “But first we hope that you stay with us as we finish this tale of a powerful girl named Eleven and her brave friends, of a broken police chief and a precious mom, of a small town called Hawkins and an alternate dimension known only as the Upside Down.”
“Stranger Things 4” is set six months after the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins. According to its synopsis, the band of misfits is navigating the complexities of high school hasn't made things any easier as they are now separated. While they’re at it, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down.
