Obiena to compete in Orlen Copernicus Cup in Poland

EJ Obiena continues his indoor campaign on Tuesday when he competes in the Orlen Copernicus Cup in Torun, Poland.

This would be Obiena’s fifth tournament after opening up his indoor season campaign last Feb. 4 at the ISTAF Indoor Berlin in Germany.

The 26-year-old Tokyo Olympian is coming off a 10th place finish at the Meeting Hauts-de France Pas-de Calais last Thursday where he posted 5.61 meters.

Obiena hopes to eclipse his season-best 5.81m he posted at the Orlen Cup in Lodz, Poland last Feb. 11.

He also seeks to improve his third-place finish in last year’s edition behind Sam Kendricks and Piotr Lisek where he vaulted 5.80m.

Organizers have yet to release the lineup but expect it to be packed with elite athletes as the tournament is rated Gold in the World Athletics Indoor Tour.
