Man who blackmailed ex-GF with sex videos, photos arrested in Taguig

A 30-year-old man was arrested by the police in Taguig for extorting money from his former girlfriend with the threat of releasing their sex videos and photos online.

Jerson Pantaleon was nabbed in an entrapment operation on Feb. 17 by elements of the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group Women and Children Cybercrime Protection Unit (WCCPU) in coordination with the Southern Police District.

The victim, a 60-year-old woman, went to the police for assistance regarding Pantaleon.

The police said in order to deceive his former girlfriend, Pantaleon created a fictitious account and sent extortion messages to himself using a different SIM card number to make it appear that he was being extorted too.

”As the report shows, the suspect tried to deceive the victim but due to the technical capability of our personnel, they were able to trace the suspect and outsmarted him,” said PNP chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos.

He added, “The landscape of criminality has been extending to the internet or technology at large, so we have to double our efforts in learning the ropes.”

Pantaleon is facing charges for robbery extortion and violation of Republic Act 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004) and Republic Act 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).
