Magnitudes 5.7, 5.2 quakes hit Davao Occidental -- Phivolcs

Offshore earthquakes measuring magnitudes 5.7 and 5.2 occurred east of Davao Occidental early Monday morning, Feb. 21, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Based on Phivolcs' earthquake bulletin, the 5.7-magnitude quake occurred at around 2:29 a.m. with its epicenter traced 109 kilometers (km) southeast of Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental.
It was felt as a "weak" tremor at Intensity III in Tupi, South Cotabato while it was "slightly felt" at Intensity II in General Santos City and Davao City.
A 5.2-magnitude quake also occurred at around 5:13 a.m., which originated 115 km southeast of Jose Abad Santos town.
Phivolcs' instruments recorded the quake at Intensity II in General Santos City.
It does not expect damage but advised the public to stay vigilant as aftershocks may occur due to these earthquakes.
