Face-to-face classes in Bulacan will only happen after all students have been vaccinated -- Gov. Fernando

Bulacan Gov. Daniel R. Fernando said he will not allow face-to-face classes in the province until the vaccination against COVID-19 of students, particularly those in the elementary level, has been completed.

All schools in the province under the Department of Education (DepEd), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), including the review center, were requested to submit to the Office of the Governor a certification of vaccine status before conducting face-to-face classes.

In a letter sent by Fernando to Dr. Zenia G. Mostoles, schools division superintendent, Department of Education (DepEd), City of Malolos, Bulacan, he emphasized the importance of vaccination to fully take care of the health and safety of students as well as school employees in the province.

Fernando is urging parents to register their children for vaccination and to complete the required number of doses.

He said the Provincial Health Office (PHO) in Bulacan is accelerating its vaccination program to serve all public schools in Bulacan and inoculate students and employees who are not yet vaccinated.

He also reminded the local chief executive, and the municipal and city health officers to coordinate in preparing for the conduct of limited face-to-face classes in Bulacan which were supposed to start on Monday, Feb. 21.
