Scattered rains likely in northern, central Luzon due to 'amihan' – PAGASA
The northeast monsoon, locally called “amihan,” is expected to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in northern and central Luzon, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday, Feb. 20.

“Patuloy na umiiral ang amihan at nakakaapekto nga ito sa ilang bahagi ng northern at central Luzon (The northeast monsoon continues to prevail in most parts of northern and central Luzon),” said PAGASA senior weather specialist Chris Perez in a public weather forecast.
Residents of Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mt. Province, and Aurora were warned against the possible impacts of the northeast monsoon during moderate to at times heavy rains.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region, and central Luzon may likewise experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon.
Perez added that the trough of the low pressure area (LPA) spotted outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) affects Mindanao and the southern portion of Palawan.
“Yung LPA po ay nasa labas pa ng ating PAR, subalit yung pinaka extension or trough nito ay inaasahan na magdudulot ng maulap na kalangitan, kalat-kalat na pag-ulan, pagkulog, at pagkidlat sa Mindanao at southern Palawan (The LPA was spotted outside PAR, but its extension or trough is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Mindanao and southern Palawan),” said Perez.
The State weather bureau said that the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to easterlies.
