PH swimwear designer Domz Ramos rocks NYFW with his Filipiniana collection

Popular Filipino swimwear designer Domz Ramos added another feather in his cap after several shows in the US. From Houston, Texas to New York City, the designer has taken his bow after showcasing his 25-piece La Corazon collection to the delight of Filipino audiences.
The designer is known to many Filipino pageant fans as the quick-witted, sharp humored swimwear designer for the Binibining Pilipinas pageant. He has been designing swimwear for the most prestigious national pageant since 2016 as well as for a bevy of regional pageants in the country. And after outfitting hundreds of pageant aspirants and queens, he is now ready to expand his brand beyond swimwear.

"I'm so happy because NYFW is every designer's dream," said Domz, moments after the prestigious fashion event.
A proud Taguigueno, Domz wanted his love for everything Filipino to be a reflection of this collection. His La Corazon collection was inspired by the former president Corazon Aquino and comprised of outfits from dazzling swimwear design to sweet confections for kids to lovely designs for formals.

The collection was broken into several sections, notable of which was the diva-esque black and gold embellished swimwear section paired with feathered headpieces fit for the Valkyries, as well as the yellow Gumamela section that exploded in tulle and floral embroidery. He ended the show with a return to traditional Filipiniana and a finale of a Muslim-inspired Filipiniana wedding dress.
Even his choice of music stayed true to his roots. He used a rendition of the Philippine Madrigal Singers of Levi Celerio’s classic “Ang Pipit”.

His wide array of clothes is as diverse as the people he says he wants to clothe. Domz didn’t go the usual route of castings and this showed in his choice of different models – so inclusive that he selected models with Down Syndrome, models of different race, transgender models, as well as women of various ages. Domz doesn’t discriminate with who wears his clothes. Instead, he prefers to make people feel good about wearing his designs.
Thanks to his manager Mary Ann Santiano and with the help of producer Zim Lovern, Domz was able to present his collection at the recent New York Fashion Week...a far cry from his humble beginnings as a designer from Taguig. (Jesson Capuchino/contributed article)
