Elderly man dies in car collision in Manila

A 61-year old man died after being hit by a car along Bilbao St. corner P. Hererra St., Brgy 2, in Tondo, Manila on Sunday, Feb. 20.

The Vehicular Traffic Investigation Section (VTIS) of the Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit (MDTEU) identified the deceased elderly man as Vicente Amion, 61.

The drivers of the two cars involved were Ronald Pacilita, 30, a company driver; and Annalisa Aklan, 46, a businesswoman.

According to the police report, Pacilita suddenly lost control of his car while parking along P. Herrera St. His car bumped Aklan’s car which was already parked on the road.

Amion, who was behind Aklan’s car, was run over by the car’s rear.

Amion sustained injuries and was rushed to the Gat Andres Memorial Hospital. However, he was declared dead-on-arrival at 1:05 a.m.

Pacilita is under the custody of the traffic bureau and will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.(Terence L. Ranis)
