Taguig City’s weekly tally of new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases has continued to go down.
In a report by the Taguig City government, from Feb. 11 to 17, there were 866 new COVID-19 cases recorded, or 124 per day.

The total is less than 692 new cases or 44 percent compared to 1,558 new COVID-19 cases from Feb. 4 to 10 in Taguig. There were 3,113 new cases tallied from Jan. 28 to Feb. 3.
The Taguig City Epidemiology Disease and Surveillance Unit (CEDSU) reported on Feb. 28 that as of Feb. 17, the city has 343 active COVID-19 cases including 39 new cases and 21 recoveries out of 64,372 confirmed cases, 63,565 recoveries and 464 deaths since the pandemic started in 2000.
Barangay Fort Bonifacio has the highest active COVID-19 cases with 57 followed by Ususan and Western Bicutan with 28 each, Lower Bicutan with 25, and Pinagsama with 24. South Daang Hari has zero active cases.
Mayor Lino Cayetano said in the next few days, it is possible that restrictions will further ease.
“There are discussions for the possible downgrading to Alert Level 1 by March. All of these became possible because when the Omicron hit, we saw that because of vaccination, our hospitalization is low,” he said.
The Taguig Safe City Task Force, meanwhile, reported that from Feb. 11 to 17, a total of 1,141 quarantine, health and safety protocol violators were apprehended including 97 who were given citation tickets and 1,041 who were given warnings.
Of the total, 76 percent of them were apprehended at terminals and public transportation; 13 percent in private vehicles; and 11 percent along streets.
The top two violations were non-observance of social distancing protocols and improper wearing of face masks.
