PAGASA: Fair weather seen in most parts of PH

A generally fair weather condition, aside from isolated rain showers, will prevail in most parts of the country over the next 24 hours, the State weather bureau said on Saturday, Feb. 19.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather specialist Ezra Bulquerin said that the residents of northern and central Luzon may experience a relatively cold weather with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon, locally called “amihan.”

“Sa kasalukuyan po ay northeast monsoon pa rin ang nakakaapekto sa northern and central Luzon kaya’t patuloy po silang makakaranas ng medyo may kalamigang panahon and then isolated light rains. The rest of the country ay fair weather condition mga isolated rain showers at mga pulu-pulong pag-ulan (Currently, the northeast monsoon affects northern and central Luzon so they will continue to experience a relatively cold weather and isolated light rains. The rest of the country will experience a fair weather condition except for isolated rain showers),” said Bulquerin in a public weather forecast.

Residents of Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon.

Meanwhile, a shallow low pressure area (LPA) was also spotted outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) and its trough is expected to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Mindanao.

“Itong LPA na ito ay shallow LPA lamang po siya na kung saan ay ineexpect naman natin na possibly in the next coming days or the next 24 to 36 hours ay magdissipate na lamang po ito. Hindi naman po natin siya inaasahan na maging bagyo (This weather disturbance is only a shallow LPA and we are expecting it to dissipate in the next 24 to 36 hours. It is not expected to further develop into a tropical cyclone),” said Bulquerin.

The State weather bureau likewise warned residents of Visayas and the rest of Luzon to remain vigilant against flash floods and landslides that the easterlies and severe thunderstorms may bring.
