Bianca Umali announces winners, prizes of controversial art contest

Kapuso star Bianca Umali has kept mum on the uproar ignited by her recent online contest.

Instead, she simply announced winners.

She wrote on Facebook: "THANK YOU (heart emoji) to everyone who joined my Channel Art Contest. I’m extremely happy to see how so many of you are inclined to art, just like me."

Bianca then shared her top 10 favorite entries.

She made clear the creator of her "top favorite" is to receive P7,000 cash price and 1TB portable hard disk drive.

The remaining nine contestants, she said, will receive Php 1,000 each.

"To the announced winners, you should have already received an email from [email protected] confirming that you have been selected," she related. "As for the rest of those who submitted their entries, thank you so so sooo much again for the continuous support and love! MAHAL NA MAHAL KO KAYO!"

Note that prior, some fans were grumbling about the contest on social media.

Many assumed she is asking fans to create the artwork for free inasmuch as she didn't give details including the prizes.

Some of the comments:

“An art contest without a prize is not a contest.”

“Exposure doesn’t pay bills.”

“Ano kapalit?”

“This is really kacheapan.”
