CAINTA, Rizal--The Chief Executive will be the only person in the executive department whose surname is “Pacquiao” if Senator Manny Pacquiao succeeds in his bid for the Palace seat.

Presidential bet Senator Manny Pacquiao presents program of government during a community forum in Taytay, Rizal on Friday, Feb. 18.

Pacquiao made this vow as he assured the public that he will not allow a member of his family to take any government position even as he pursues his vow to cleanse the bureaucracy of corrupt and dishonest officials and personnel.

The PROMDI and PDP-Laban (Pimentel wing) standard bearer said Filipinos should expect him to complete at least 70 percent of his anti-graft program in two to three years.

To do this, Pacquiao will be soliciting the help of Deputy Speaker and CIBAC Party-list Rep. Bro. Eddie Villanueva and carry out a “secret formula” that would ensure good governance in the country.

“Two to three years, 70 percent na masusugpo na ang corruption sa gobyerno. Mayroon kaming magandang plano para dito (Expect 70 percent of corruption in government to be stopped in two to three years. We have a good plan for this),” Pacquiao told a press conference held at the office of Mayor Kit Nieto.

The senator staged a series of campaign rallies in Taytay, Cainta, Morong, and Binangonan where thousands of supporters and fans welcomed him.

He ended the sorties with a community forum attended by farmers and barangay leaders and local officials in Binangonan.

Pacquiao disclosed that he and the popular Christian evangelist have discussed their respective plans for a moral recovery program in government and the implementation of various programs that can put an end to corrupt practices in the bureaucracy.

During the press briefing, Pacquiao was asked about his reaction in case a relative is linked to corruption allegations while in government.

“Nakakahiya iyon. Hinding hindi ko papayagan na magkaganoon (That would be embarrassing. I will not allow that to happen),” he responded.

Pacquiao continued that he will not appoint or allow the appointment of any family member to join the executive department.

However, apparently exempted are his brothers who are reportedly seeking another term in Congress.

Pacquiao’s brothers, Deputy Speaker and Saranggani lone district Rep. Rogelio “Ruel” Pacquiao and OFW Family Party-list Rep. Alberto “Bobby” Pacquiao, are members of the House of Representatives.

His wife, Jinky, served as vice governor of Saranggani from 2013 to 2016 but no longer ran for reelection to focus on her family.
