Presidential candidate and Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso promised to prioritize investments in the education sector after he led the groundbreaking ceremonies for the new 10-story Ramon Magsaysay High School in Sampaloc District on Thursday, Feb. 17.

It is the fourth modern public school building to be built by the city government under Domagoso's leadership.
Currently, Ramon Magsaysay High School accommodates more than 6,300 students - way above its capacity of 4,000 students – and only for Grades 7-10 due to lack of classrooms. The senior high school students have to enroll in other schools outside the district.
“It’s going to be developed base sa makabagong panahon, base sa makabagong hamon ng bagong panahon bilang paghahanda sa patuloy na paglago ng populasyon, wherein we could better our student-teacher ratio and hopefully, the world standard, masunod natin yoong ganung magagandang bagay na nangyayayri sa ibang bansa (It's going to be developed based on modern times, based on new challenges of modern age in preparation for the growing population, wherein we could better our student-teacher ratio and hopefully, we could follow the world standard)," Domagoso said.
Once completed, the new school building will have 232 classrooms, 18 faculty rooms, a canteen, library, administrative building, auditorium, gym, play area, outdoor sports area, roof deck, eight elevators, and parking spaces.
It is the second modern school building being built in Sampaloc by the city government, the other being the Dr. Carlos Albert High School.
Also under construction are the Rosauro Almario Elementary School in Tondo and the Manila Science High School located along Taft Avenue.
"Palarin sana tayo, someday, somehow, we will invest in our teachers to be the master of their skills. Sa mga guro na nandidito, someday, somehow, we will give what is due to you, and also we will equip, better our investment in making things easier, better, efficient for every teacher in our country, may awa ang Diyos (Hopefully, someday, somehow, we will invest in our teachers to be the master of their skills. To the teachers here, someday, somehow, we will give what is due to you, and also we will equip you, better our investment in making things easier, better, efficient for every teacher in our country, God is merciful)," he said.
Education is is one of the main pillars of Domagoso's 10-point Bilis Kilos Economic Agenda.
The Aksyon Demokratiko standard-bearer said he will prioritize the building of more modern public schools around the country, especially in far-flung provinces and municipalities, to boost the quality of education among the Filipino youth. (Terence Ranis)
