Elevating the minivan experience
Kia Philippines has officially unveiled the 2022 Carnival, one of the most popular vans in its segment, sporting a new look, new features, and more luxurious appointments. Kia is positioning the all-new Carnival as a vehicle for VIPs and their families, perfect for the modern executive family man who is looking for a premium and versatile ride. The new model sports a more SUV-like appearance but will also step up the luxury from its predecessor.

The all-new Carnival adopts a new design language, boasting of an edgier exterior. It starts with a façade looking more like the Seltos SUV. It has new, slim LED headlights, a redesigned tiger-nose grille, sculpted front and rear bumpers, a grooved hood, and tasteful chrome accents. Noticeable on the sides are large chrome C-pillars to create what Kia calls its “Island Roof.” Adding character to its profile are 18- to 19-inch alloy wheels (depending on the variant). Behind, slim LED taillights stretch across the entire width of the tailgate.

Inside, the Carnival chooses to pamper passengers with its interior space. Entry is easy thanks to power sliding doors, a power tailgate, and smart entry with remote engine start. The Carnival’s two variants are both seven-seaters, but fully upholstered in leather. Fitted on the top-of-the-line SX variant are second row captain seats with power recline, cushion and leg rest, power sliding function, as well as cooling function. Even the driver and front passenger get the added benefit of having ventilated seats on the SX.

Among the comfort amenities are an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It’s connected to a six-speaker sound system. Keeping the cabin cool is a three-zone automatic climate control system. The SX adds unique features like LED cabin lights, a dual panoramic sunroof, a wireless charging pad for mobile devices, and winglet-type headrests for the second row.
Powering the 2022 Carnival is a 2.2-liter Smartstream turbo-diesel engine. It makes 202-PS at 3,800 rpm and 440-Nm of torque at 1,750 – 2,750 rpm. Power is then sent to an eight-speed automatic transmission that drives the front wheels.

Rounding it out is the extensive list of safety features which include anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist, electronic stability control, multi-collision braking system, hill-start assist, trailer stability assist, blind-spot detection with collision avoidance assist, reverse camera, front and rear parking sensors, and cruise control. The SX adds the DRIVE WISE safety suite made up of Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Lane Keep & Following Assist.

“The all-new Carnival delivers first-class treatment worthy of a VIP,” said Manny Aligada, president of Kia Philippines. “Each key feature of the latest model supports his daily drive towards his avenues of inspiration. Moments of style that express his exclusive taste. Moments of innovation that empower his drive to seek more. Moments of comfort and convenience that fulfill his luxurious standard of living. And, moments of safety to represent his reliable nature.”
