Bongbong vows to boost local R&D, assistance to inventors if elected president

Presidential candidate Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Friday, Feb. 18 said Filipino inventors must be given all necessary support as they could bring the Philippines shoulder to shoulder with other countries in terms of technological innovations.

Marcos Jr. said local inventors should feel the support of the public as well as that of the national government by providing them all the help they need in research and development (R&D), funding, benefits, and necessary upskilling.

If elected, the presidential aspirant said he will elevate the level of R&D in the country as well as raise the technological status by focusing more and supporting Filipino inventors and scientists.

He said that, through these interventions, Filipinos csn show the world that they are as talented and inventive as other races.

"Dapat ibalik natin ang pagiging Pilipino ako, taas noo kahit kanino (We should make the Filipinos feel proud again)," he said.

Marcos Jr. also said that even in schools, it is important to cultivate the skills and well-being of every student at a young age.

"If the student has a potential and passion to discover or make an innovative invention, he should be immediately supported by the government," he said.

"Make them feel how important they are to the country and that all the support will be given to them as they work on their inventions," he added.
