'Swerte ko yata': Senatorial bet Matula flattered over Robredo's simple gesture on Valentine's Day event

Senatorial candidate Sonny Matula could not help but feel flattered over a simple gesture Vice President Leni Robredo did in one of their events on Valentines' Day.

Matula took to social media his delight after Robredo helped him sign a covenant banner just by simply holding the tarpaulin in place so he can sign it with ease.

The light moment during the covenant signing with LGBTQIA+ for Leni on Feb. 14 in Quezon City was captured by Matula's team, which he later posted on his Facebook page.

Matula, a labor lawyer, even called himself lucky for the interaction.

"Swerte ko 'ata (I must be lucky). VP Leni holds the tarpaulin while I sign the covenant," he said as he shared the photos of him signing the covenant while Robredo helps him out on Facebook Wednesday, Feb. 16.

The photos show the Vice President placing her palm at the back of the tarpaulin to assist Matula as he signs over his name on the covenant banner.

Matula is the president of the Federation of Free Workers. He was named by Robredo as the 12th senatorial candidate in her slate in October 2021.

Robredo then said that she believes Matula is the one they are looking for to complete her "diverse senatorial slate" as he is someone who "has a clear track record" in fighting for the rights of Filipino laborers.

If elected, Matula will push for the end of contractualization and will continue to advocate for a decent job for all.
