PAGASA: 'Amihan' brings cloudy skies, isolated rains in N. Luzon
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers may prevail in northern Luzon over the next 24 hours due to the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Thursday, Feb. 17.

PAGASA weather specialist Raymond Ordinario, in a public weather forecast, said that the northeast monsoon affects northern Luzon.
“Makikita natin dito sa satellite imagery na may mga kaulapan pa rin dyan sa sa silangang bahagi ng gitna at hilagang Luzon na dala pa rin ng amihan. Sa ngayon ay wala tayong nakataas na gale warning sa anumang baybayin ng ating kapuluan kaya malayang makakapalaot ang ating mga kababayang mangingisda (We can see here in the satellite imagery that there are still cloud clusters in the eastern part of central and northern Luzon due to the northeast monsoon. Currently, no gale warning is raised in any part of the country so fishermen can sail freely),” said Ordinario.
Residents of Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and Quezon were warned against possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains that the northeast monsoon may bring.
The northeast monsoon may also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers in the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Central Luzon.
Meanwhile, a generally fair weather condition with a slight chance of partly cloudy skies and isolated rain showers may prevail in Metro Manila and the rest of the country due to the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.
“Over the next three to five days o sa pagpasok ng susunod na linggo ay patuloy pa rin tayong makakaasa na walang bagyo na maaaring mabuo o pumasok ng ating Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) (No weather disturbance is seen to develop or enter PAR over the next three to five days),” said Ordinario.
