Navotas City's active COVID cases drop to less than 30

Navotas City's active coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases dropped to only 26 on Feb. 15.

This is the lowest number recorded since the start of the year when the city reached a total of 1,718 active case on Jan. 14, which was the highest recorded during the first two months of the year, as announced by the local government.

Out of the 18 barangays in the city, Tanza 1 has the highest number with six active cases, followed by barangays NBBS Dagatdagatan, San Roque, and Tanza 2 with three cases each.

The local government said that there are also six barangays with zero cases. These are Bagumbayan North and South, Bangculasi, Navotas East and West, and Tangos North.

Mayor Toby Tiangco reminded residents to continue following the minimum health protocols -- the wearing of face mask, sanitation, social distancing -- to prevent the spread of the virus.

"Wag po tayong maging kampante. Kailangan pa rin ang ibayong pag-iingat (Let us not be complacent. We still need to be cautious)," he said.

As of Feb. 15, the city has recorded 21,032 total cases with 635 deaths (0.3 percent of total), and 20,371 recoveries (96.9 percent).

Tiangco said that there are already 3,212 kids ages 5-11 who received their COVID-19 jabs since the city government started its pediatric vaccination on Feb. 7.

He added that there are also 48 bedridden residents who already recieved their booster shots through mobile vaccination which started on Feb. 14.

Parents can register their children for the vaccinations through https://covax.navotas.gov.ph/, while family members of the bedridden or those who cannot visit the immunization centers can send a message to the city's Facebook page or though its contact numbers.
