A total of 498 Las Piñas police personnel received booster shots from the city government to ensure that they are fully protected from the coronavirus disease (CORCOVID-19).
As a way of thanking the city government, Las Piñas City Police headed by Col. Jaime Osit Santos awarded Vice-Mayor April Aguilar with a plaque of appreciation on Feb. 17 at the Office of the Mayor.
Santos said he had requested the city government to give the 498 cops the booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine to ensure that they are more protected from the virus.
He said the vice-mayor immediately heeded to his request.
The city police chief said that aside from the police personnel, some of their immediate families were also inoculated with the primary doses of the vaccine while others were given their booster shots.
Santos said 40 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) confined at their custodial facility as well as the 300 inmates at the Las Piñas Police extension jail were also given the vaccine doses.
Aguilar, for her part, thanked Santos for the plaque of appreciation given to her, adding that the police are considered as frontliners and must be fully vaccinated against the virus.
She said the city government will continue to give all the support needed by the local police in the effective implementation of health protocols around the city.
The vice-mayor added that aside from vaccinating all the city police personnel, the city government is also giving them food packs and other assistance.
