'Badjao Girl' Rita Gaviola now officially a beauty queen

Remember former "Pinoy Big Brother" teen housemate Rita Gaviola?

Well, she's back.

Not exactly as Miss Universe contestant as promised, but as "Sexy Babe."

To those not in the know, it is the new pageant-type segment of "It's Showtime."

Many were amazed with Rita's huge transformation as seen on the show, Thursday.

She looked fierce donning a two-piece swimsuit for the occasion.

Then again, it's not as if Rita is all about simply looking hot.

She displayed good heart and wisdom to boot.

Rita said she wants to continue reaching for the stars if only to deter prevalent notion on Badjaos being mere mendicants.

"Gusto ko maipakita na marami pa kaming ibang kayang gawin," she intoned.

She won.

Rita first gained notice in 2016 when a photo of her as taken at a fiesta trended online.

She was just 13 at the time but many believed she could be a star based on her looks alone.

Eventually, Rita joined "Pinoy Big Brother" Lucky Season 7 joining the likes of Maymay Entrata and Edward Barbers.

She also appeared on GMA's "Sahaya."

None too soon, people were pushing her to join pageants.

Last year, Rita made headlines signaling her intent to join the Miss Universe tilt.

She was bashed for it.
