Asa Miller gracious in defeat after failed Winter Olympics campaign

Fil-Am skier Asa Miller is gracious in defeat after failing to meet his expectations in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
In a social media post, the 21-year-old said he learned a lot the hard way in his second Winter Olympics stint where he did not finish his two events in the men’s giant slalom and slalom.
“Well, my second Olympics are over and things didn’t quite go my way,” Miller wrote.
“While I’m walking away without any results, I’m happy with some of my skiing this week in some tough conditions.”
Miller crashed out early in the giant slalom last Sunday amid heavy snowfall and low visibility that delayed and canceled some of the events.
He aimed to redeem himself in the slalom on Wednesday, but suffered the same fate going to the third intermediate of his first run to also fail to finish.
Heading to his second Winter Olympics stint, Miller’s goal was to eclipse his 70th finish in the giant slalom in his debut appearance at the 2018 Pyeongchang edition.
Despite not achieving the results he wanted, Miller thanked the people who supported his campaign.
He is taking this experience in stride to achieve better results in the future.
“Thank you everyone for your kind words. Time to relax a bit and I’ll be back for the closing ceremony,” he wrote.
Miller the country’s lone representative to the Winter Olympics, with the Philippines managing to send athletes to a total of six editions in the history of the Games.
