Willie Revillame reacts to 'walang utang na loob' tag

Many fans were hurt after Willie Revillame decided not to renew his contract with GMA-7.

Some were quick to deem the the 61-year-old veteran TV host, actor, and singer as "walang utang na loob."

On the last airing date of "Wowowin" on GMA, Willie took time to address the issue, reiterating entertainment is "business."

"Sa industriyang ito, kapag hindi ka nagra-rating, tinatanggal ka. Pag nag-rate, napapakinabangan ka," he said. "Walang utang na loob? Hindi ho. Hindi niyo naiintindihan sinasabi ninyo."

He added: "Kapag ikaw nag-rate, aalagaan at iingatan ka kasi nagpapasok ka ng pera... alangang hindi kumikita, hindi nag-rate, i-stay ka pa ng station?"

Willie maintained this is the reason why talents like him always give their best at every opportunity.

Willie bid his fans goodbye last Feb. 11, sharing with them a letter from GMA CEO, Atty. Felipe L. Gozon.

There, Gozon stated how he understands Willie’s decision to join Manny Villar's new TV station, deeming it a “rare opportunity.”

Revillame cleared he has not yet signed a deal with the new station but he has to end his journey with GMA out of “delicadeza.”

He didn’t like the idea of him looking as if he betrayed the network.

“Hindi ho tama yun. Sobrang bait ng taga-GMA... Di ko magagawang traydorin sila.”
