Man hurt in Taguig fire


One person suffered first degree burns when a fire hit a commercial establishment in Taguig on Tuesday, Feb. 15.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Taguig, the fire started at a commercial establishment on Sampaloc Street corner Meralco Road in Purok 4-B, Lower Bicutan.

Firefighters raised the first alarm at 2:34 p.m. The fire was placed under control at 2:46 p.m. and was declared fire out at 3 p.m.

The BFP-Taguig said the fire started from the stock area of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). The fire razed one house and the commercial establishment with the amount of damage placed at P60,000.

Two families composed of six individuals were affected by the fire. Authorities said the establishment was owned by Shirley De Guzman and the occupant of the establishment was Joprey Cauilan.

BFP-Taguig identified the injured as Ronaldo Condo, who suffered first degree burns on his left shoulder and was taken to the Taguig-Pateros District Hospital for treatment.

A total of 23 fire trucks consisting of 11 from BFP and 12 from volunteer groups and local government units responded to the incident. Two ambulances were also deployed to the fire scene.
