Jacquemus claps back at homophobic comments: ‘You don’t deserve our products. Period’

Love was everywhere on social media as the world celebrated Valentine’s Day on Monday, Feb. 14. In the case of Simon Porte Jacquemus, the French fashion designer behind the label Jacquemus, he marked the day by sharing a photo of him and his husband Marco Maestri sharing a kiss by the pool on social media. While it garnered a series of hearts and rainbows on the platform, it wasn’t spared from online trolling.

Through an Instagram post, the French luxury label shared a screenshot of one commenter that said, “I used to want your bag. Now .” To which it responded, “My bags don’t want you.”

“If you know how many gay are working at Jacquemus. We don’t want you as an homophobic potential clients,” it continues through an Instagram story. “You don’t deserve our products. Period.”

Jacquemus has been a brand that openly champions diversity and inclusivity. The brand has demonstrated it many times, the recent one is its summer 2021 campaigns shot by Tom Kneller featuring intimate moments of LGBTQIA+ couples.

“I’m happy we having somehow this painful conversation. I grew up gay couple figure and I know how is important to be one of the for the young kids out there,” the 32-year-old designer wrote in an Instagram story. “We will fight for them, to show that love always wins. I will keep posting pictures of love. Always. You are beautiful never forget that.”
