Debut win a boost for Pacatiw vs Andrade

Jeremy Pacatiw is not only banking on his winner's mentality but also on his well-built confidence from his spectacular debut win when he enters the Circle anew against a bigger threat.

The Team Lakay stalwart is set for a tough hurdle ahead against No. 4 bantamweight contender Fabricio Andrade of Brazil in ONE: Full Circle on Feb. 25 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

"My win from my debut fight gave me that extra self-assurance and I’m feeling more confident than ever," said Pacatiw, who has a 10-4 record.

"I have more to offer that will surely thrill our audience and it is expected every time we step inside the Circle that we really need to show another version of ourselves, and that another version is the improved version. We want to show the world that we are constantly evolving."

The 25-year-old Igorot warrior, formerly competing in Bahrain-based promotion BRAVE Combat Federation, made a successful transition in ONE Championship after scoring a convincing unanimous decision win against Chinese opponent Chen Rui.

His win also granted him the chance to set up a match against a ranked contender in Andrade, who is still undefeated after three bouts in the Singapore-based promotion since July 2020.

Pacatiw knew too well the threat posed by Andrade, describing the Brazilian foe as a "complete athlete."

But the Team Lakay fighter took this as challenge instead for him to move up the bantamweight rankings.

"A win could put me in the ONE Athlete Rankings and also a chance to get closer to a possible fight for the title. That's my dream here," said Pacatiw.

Andrade, for his part, last saw action in December 2021 with a technical knockout win against Li Kai Wen to improve to six wins and two losses.
