Korean actress and bride-to-be Son Ye-jin talked about her upcoming marriage to “Crash Landing on You” co-star Hyun Bin.
Son Ye-jin attended the press conference for her new drama “Thirty-Nine” on Feb. 16 together with co-stars Jeon Mi-do and Kim Ji-hyun. The series will premiere on JTBC on Feb. 16 and will be streamed on Netflix.
The press conference is Son Ye-jin’s first public event since surprising her fans and colleagues in the entertainment industry on Feb. 10 with her announcement that she and Hyun Bin are getting married in March in Seoul.
During the press conference, emcee and actress Park Seul-gi was asked by Son Ye-jin if she is happy with her married life and she replied, “It is so great,” according to SBS News.
Son Ye-jin commented that she is hoping that upcoming marriage with Hyun Bin will be happy too.
"I hope mine will be like that too," she said.
Son Ye-jin thanked people for the congratulations she received after she announced her marriage plan.
"Thank you. Thank you, everyone. So many people congratulated me. I feel really thankful. I can't thank everybody enough for it," she said.
Son Ye-jin likened her upcoming marriage to Hyun Bin as destiny.
"Such a big event has occurred in the beginning of the year that I almost feel like it's destiny," said Son Ye-jin.
Son Ye-jin and Hyun Bin first worked in the film “The Negotiation,” which was released in South Korea in 2018.
The two starred in the hit drama “Crash Landing on You,” which aired from December 2019 to February 2020.
Since starring in “The Negotiation,” the two were rumored several times that they were dating.
On Jan. 1, 2021, Korean media outlet Dispatch released an exclusive story with photos showing Son Ye-jin and Hyun Bin dating. On the same day, they admitted that they were in a romantic relationship.
Last Feb. 10, Son Ye-jin and Hyun Bin issued announcements, saying they will get married in March.
“I thought long and hard about how to share this story because it’s an important one. I found someone to spend the rest of my life with,” said Son Ye-jin.
She added, “Yes... it’s him. Boy meets girl, recognizes each other in the crowd, promises to build a future together...I couldn’t imagine! It happened so naturally...But, isn’t that destiny? Just being with him, I feel warm and protected. Please help us celebrate the beginning of our future.”
“And to my dearest fans, I have received unconditional love and for a long time now, I thought, there’s no way to repay it. Please know that I’m infinitely grateful and I also wish you all happiness!” she said.
Hyun Bin wrote, “I am writing this because I wanted to tell the fans, who cared about me and gave me great interest and love despite my lacking in many ways, first the most important decision of my life.”
“I’m sure some of you can guess, right? Yes, I have made an important decision of marriage and step carefully in the second act of my life. I made a promise with her who always makes me smile. Let us walk through the days that lie ahead together,” he said.
He added, “Jeong-hyeok and Seri, who worked together in the drama, are going to take that step together. With the warm and affectionate gaze you have shown us so far, I believe you will cheer us on happily for our first step.”
Son Ye-jin’s agency, MS Team Entertainment, provided details of the wedding.
“The two, who have met with warm support and interest from many people, will hold the wedding in March in Seoul. As it is a difficult time for everyone due to the pandemic, according to the wishes of the two actors, they have decided to hold the event privately with parents and acquaintances from both families. We ask for your generous understanding of this,” it said.
