An Waray Partylist endorses Chiz Escudero's senatorial bid

Eastern Visayas region’s most influential political party, An Waray partylist, has declared its all-out support for the senatorial bid of Sorsogon Governor Francis “Chiz” Escudero in the upcoming May 2022 national elections.

Party-list Rep. Florencio “Bem” Noel, personally relayed to Escudero the group’s support. The group even produced a campaign advertisment for the veteran lawmaker who is now seeking a fresh six-year term in the Senate.

An Waray Partylist is a “democratic multisectoral party-list organization that envisions a just, progressive and peaceful Filipino society characterized by its principles katilingban (sense of community), kahimyang (peace) and kauswagan (progress) through the adoption of a community-based and peace-oriented development agenda.”

Aside froom An Waray, other partylist groups that have aired their support for Escudero’s senatorial bid include ARISE, Ang Kabuhayan, Kusog Bikolandia, and Magdalo.

The said groups have expressed their commitment to give their solid support for Escudero, a two-term senator before he was elected governor of Sorsogon in 2019.

The presidential and vice presidential tandems of Senator Ping Lacson and Senate President Tito Sotto; Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Kiko Pangilinan; and Senator Manny Pacquiao and Rep. Lito Atienza have adopted Escudero, a consistent topnotcher in various independent pre-election surveys, in their senatorial slates.

Escudero also got the backing of UniTeam vice-presidential candidate and incumbent Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte.

The mayors of CALABARZON—Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon—and Eastern Samar belonging to the League of Municipalities of the Philippines or LMP have also expressed their support to Escudero.
