Twelve new cases of the Omicron variant were detected in Zamboanga City, bringing the total number of Omicron cases in the city to 29.

The twelve cases were detected from the February 11 genome sequencing results from the Philippine Genome Center. A case of the Delta variant was also detected.
City Health Officer Dr. Dulce Miravite said the 12 new cases have already recovered.
The latest cases are in addition to the 17 detected on February 3.
Miravite said cases of different COVID-19 variants have been detected in the city.
The presence of additional Omicron variants was announced a day after Zamboanga City retained its Alert Level 3 status.
Zamboanga City has a total of 953 active COVID-19 cases as of February 12.
