Here’s how
No Filipino films being sent to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, even for consideration as a nominee, is pretty much a bummer. But it looks like there’s a chance for films that aren’t included in this year’s Oscar hopefuls to earn a victory.

Early this week, the Academy has announced a partnership with Twitter where fans can vote for their favorite movie of the year. Users only need to tweet the title of their favorite 2021 movie with the hashtags #OscarsFanFavorite and #Sweepstakes. According to Variety, “the votes will count for any film, even if it did not receive a single Oscar nomination.” People can vote up to 20 times per day until March 3, with the announcement of the winner taking place on March 27, the day of the awarding ceremony.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Twitter to help build an engaged and excited digital audience leading up to this year’s ceremony,” the Academy’s vice president of digital marketing, Meryl Johnson, said. “The Oscars are an opportunity to bring people around the world together through their shared movie love, and through these activations, social media users around the world now have more opportunities to engage with the show in real-time, find a community, and be a part of the experience in ways they’ve never been able to before.”
Apart from the favorite movie, film buffs are also given a chance to vote for #OscarsCheerMoment, where they can decide “decide on their favorite movie moment of 2021.” This twitter contest will run from Feb. 24 until March 3.
So, what movie do you think should win #OscarsFanFavorite and #OscarsCheerMoment?
