Shear line to bring cloudy skies, scattered rains over extreme northern Luzon

The extreme portion of northern Luzon may experience cloudy skies, scattered rain showers, and thunderstorms due to the shear line--a region where warm and cold winds converge, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Tuesday, Feb. 15.

PAGASA warned those in Aurora, Cagayan, Batanes, Isabela, Quirino, and Nueva Vizcaya to remain alert against possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains brought about by the shear line.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon or "amihan" may bring partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated light rains over the rest of Central Luzon, Ilocos Region, and Cordillera Administrative Region.

PAGASA said Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies or warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean.

It also advised those in areas that will likely be affected by severe thunderstorms to stay vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides.

Weather specialist Grace Castañeda said PAGASA has not monitored a tropical cyclone or low pressure area that may affect the country as of Tuesday.
