Valenzuela City reopens 4 schools for expansion of limited face-to-face classes

The Valenzuela City government reopened on Monday, Feb. 14, four schools for the expansion of the limited face-to-face classes in the city.

The four schools are Coloong Elementary School, Isla Elementary School, Caruhatan West Elementary School and Constantino Elementary School.

Dr. Meliton Zurbano, Department of Education - Valenzuela (DepEd-Valenzuela) School Division superintendent, said students joining the expanded limited face-to-face classes are from Kindergarten, Grades 1, 2 and 3, which are same grade levels approved during the pilot run last Feb. 9 at Tagalag Elementary School and Disiplina Village Bignay Elementary School.

He said 205 learners are included in the expanded classes, 49 of them are from Caruhatan Elementary School; 60 from Coloong Elementary School; 34 from Constantino Elementary School; and 62 from Isla Elementary

Zurbano said the schedule of classes is every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., which alternates with the children's distance learning sessions (Tuesdays and Thursdays).

He added that the schools conduct sanitation before the children enter the classrooms and they also place thermal scanners to check the body temperatures.

Students and teachers are also required to observe minimum health and safety protocols like wearing of facemasks and social distancing. The kids' recess or break time are supervised.

The local government said that the limited face-to-face classes for Grades 4 to 6, Junior and Senior High School are expected to start once approved by the regional office.

Zurbano said that the classes for Grades 4 to 6 in Tagalag Elementary School and Disiplina Village Bignay Elementary School will begin on Tuesday, Feb. 15.
