The Valenzuela City government on Monday, Feb. 14, opened the new COVID-19 isolation facility inside the Valenzuela City Emergency Hospital (VCEH).
The city government started building the facility in 2021 in partnership with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
It was built to increase the hospital's capacity in taking care of COVID-19 patients with severe symptoms. It features 14 air conditioned rooms, donning and doffing (putting on and taking off of personal protective equipment) rooms, an oxygen manifold, and a storage room.
The facility has four recovering COVID-19 patients.
Mayor Rex Gatchalian, city councilors, and VCEH staff said te opening of the isolation facility is part of the city's activities for its 24th cityhood anniversary which is celebrated every Feb. 14.
The city government had earlier announced that it will inaugurate more facilities such as the extension building of the 3S (Sentro ng Sama-samang serbisyo) center in Lawang Bato which features a healthcare and daycare center, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela Annex Campus and Main Campus new building and upgrades, and the Restored Arkong Bato for the week-long celebration of its Charter Day from Feb. 14 to 18.
