San Juan LGU provides pneumonia vaccines, health kits, rice to public school teachers

Over 600 public school teachers in all public schools in the city of San Juan received pneumonia vaccines, health kits, and rice from the city government on Monday, Feb. 14.

San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora said that the initiative was made as the local government unit (LGU) ramped up its efforts to protect them from sickness and express the city's gratitude for their service to the community.

According to the city government, a total of 630 teachers received health kits and rice while 470 have been inoculated with the pneumonia vaccine.

The LGU said that the teachers who failed to get jabbed have comorbidities that prohibit them from receiving it, while others are in the province.

Meanwhile, the LGU explained that each health kit contains two gallons of alcohol , two boxes of face mask, and one box of ascorbic acid + zinc vitamins.

San Juan City started its face-to-face classes on Feb. 10 amid the declining number of active COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila and its downgrade to Alert Level 2.

Zamora personally witnessed the resumption of face-to-face classes at Pedro Cruz Elementary School.

The school had its pilot run from kinder to grade three last year just before the surge in new COVID-19 cases brought about by the Omicron variant.

According to Zamora, face-to-face classes have now been extended up to grade six.
