COVID risk in Metro Manila, Quezon, Rizal remains 'low' -- OCTA

Metro Manila, Quezon, and Rizal remained at "low risk" from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), while nearby provinces were at "moderate risk," the OCTA Research Group said on Monday, Feb. 14.
OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David noted that the risk levels of these areas were determined using the internationally-developed COVID Act Now metrics.
"NCR , Quezon, and Rizal remained at low-risk while Batangas, Cavite, and Laguna remained at moderate risk mainly due to high positivity rates," he said in a tweet.
However, David pointed out that Laguna may move to low risk classification "within the next few days," while Cavite and Batangas will likely also move to low-risk status "soon."
Citing the Department of Health data, David said that Metro Manila recorded 558 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, Feb. 13.
"This is relatively high compared to the national number of 3,050, but still within range of our Jan. 24 projections," David said.
"The positivity rate is still decreasing, down to 8.5 percent in the NCR," he added.
David continued to advise the public to strictly observe the minimum public health protocols--the proper wearing of face masks, physical distancing, and washing of hands regularly--to further slow down the spread of the virus.
