QC Mayor Belmonte recommends NCR to remain under alert level 2

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte recommended for the National Capital Region (NCR) to remain under the COVID-19 Alert level 2 quarantine status until the end of the month, the local government said on Sunday, Feb. 13.

The Quezon City Public Information Office (PIO) told the Manila Bulletin that the QC Mayor has voted for alert level 2, but the details of the said recommendation were not mentioned.

Earlier, Belmonte released the guidelines which were implemented in the city while the NCR is under the more relaxed alert level 2 from Feb. 1 to 15

The guidelines limit the mobility of unvaccinated individuals and ease the restrictions for vaccinated residents on visiting public places while ensuring that minimum health and safety are being observed.

Since the start of January 2022, Quezon City had taken steps to further strengthen its campaign against COVID-19 by opening more vaccination sites(around 140 sites), expanding its free testings, providing incentives to vendors who get their jabs, hiring additional tracers, and reminding business establishments and residents to follow health protocols.

The city has recorded 1,356 active COVID-19 cases or 0.53 percent of its 258,050 total cases as of Feb. 11, with 255,034 (98.83 percent) recoveries and 1,660 (0.64 percent) deaths
