Boom Esports dominates T1 to bag SEA DPC Tour I crown

Boom Esports proved to be the best DOTA 2 team in the region as it ruled SEA DPC Winter Tour Regional Finals after beating rival T1, 3-1, in the Grand Finals on Sunday, Feb. 13.

Boom walloped T1 in the first two games of the series which set the tone for the four-game domination and allowed the Indonesian squad to bag the $50,000 cash prize and 250 DPC points.

Erin Jasper “Yopaj” Ferrer shone the brightest for Boom as he saved his best game in the series clincher with an impressive 19-2-5 stat line on the Lina to cap his series-long brilliance.

He was also a vital cog in Boom’s first two wins in the series with efficient lines of 16-0-9 and 4-0-7 KDAs on the Kunkka picks in Games 1 and 2.

Boom quickly raced to a commanding 2-0 series lead after its dominant 30-5 win in the series opener and 17-3 triumph in the second game. Boom led from start to finish in both games as it put on the pressure on the lanes and quickly took control of the map allowing its carry heroes to reach their power spikes.

Yopaj benefitted heavily from that ploy as he took over in team fights. He also got ample support from fellow Filipino star Timothy “Tims” Randrup who added a neat 4-0-18 line on the Venguful Spirit and 2-1-11 on the Mirana in Games 1 and 2 respectively.

T1 came alive in Game 3 as it showed flashes of the team that defeated Boom in the upper bracket finals.

On the brink of defeat and with Boom comfortably ahead for the most part of the match, The International 10 representatives went all out in a huge clash at the 40-minute mark. They eventually wiped out all of Boom members to hack a narrow 29-27 Game 3 win and avoid the sweep.

That, along with the substitution of Mc Nicholson “Lelouch-" Villanueva for Karl “Karl” Jayme who was having internet problems, were not enough to stop Boom from claiming its throne.

With Tims and Yopaj at the forefront of the attack, Boom finished off its rivals with another lopsided 29-12 affair in Game 4.
