'Amihan' slightly weakens; easterlies affects Luzon, Visayas – PAGASA

The northeast monsoon, locally called “amihan,” has slightly weakened, while the easterlies is expected to bring cloudy skies and isolated rain showers in the eastern section of Luzon and Visayas, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday, Feb. 13.

“Bahagyang humina ang amihan at sa ngayon ay yung easterlies ang nakakaapekto sa mga lalawigan sa silangang bahagi ng Luzon at Visayas (The northeast monsoon has weakened slightly while the easterlies affects the eastern portion of Luzon and Visayas),” said PAGASA weather specialist Chis Perez in a public weather forecast.

The State weather bureau warned residents of Aurora and Quezon against possible flash floods and landslides during moderate to at times heavy rain showers due to the easterlies.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to easterlies and localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, according to Perez, no weather disturbance is expected to develop and enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) over the forecast period.
