Police arrested two men for unauthorized possession of firearms and ammunition along Mercedes Avenue in Barangay San Miguel, Pasig City at around 1:40 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 12.
Pasig City Police Station (CPS) Chief-of-police Col. Roman C. Arugay, identified the suspects as Ronnie Allam, 39, a resident of Barangay Palatiw, Pasig City and Jereco Yap, 38, a grab rider and resident of Barangay Caniogan, Pasig City.

The Pasig police patrol was contacted by Marky Villa Roman, a businessman, who reported two men who were on board a violet Yamaha Mio Sporty, and roaming in front of his establishment.
Upon inspection of the suspects, the police confiscated a 9 mm caliber gun with a magazine loaded with six live bullets from Allam, and an improvised handgun with one live bullet from Yap.
The suspects were brought to the Pasig CPS for proper disposition and will be charged for violating Republic Act (RA) No. 10591, or the “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act” under the Commission on Elections (Comelec)’s Omnibus Election Code.
The Comelec gun ban began on Jan. 9 and will be implemented until June 8 to ensure public safety during the incoming May 2022 national and local elections. (Khriscielle Yalao)
