Robredo camp welcomes 'Leni-Sara' endorsements; stands behind Kiko as VP
The camp of presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo is open to personalities and groups endorsing only her and not her running mate Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, but it maintained its loyalty and support to her running mate.

Robredo’s spokesman Barry Gutierrez said on Friday night, Feb. 11, that it is not surprising that some groups are supporting Robredo but not Pangilinan after he was asked about the Leni-Sara tandem being pushed by some groups.
Albay Rep. Joey Salceda recently endorsed Robredo and UniTeam vice presidential bet Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.
“It's not surprising that it's happening again, but our position remains very firm: The choice for Vice President of VP Leni is Senator Kiko Pangilinan,” Gutierrez said on OneNews PH, adding that allowing Filipinos to vote separately for president and vice president is the “consequence” of the system.
“So, you know, if there are people who will say that they support her but they support another VP bet, then we will welcome that support because after all, an election is about addition. But, our position will be firmly for supporting Senator Kiko as Vice President,” he added.
Pangilinan, Gutierrez explained, is the one who is part of Robredo’s slate and the one attending sorties with her. The Vice President has also “very firmly endorsed in all of her sorties, in all of her speeches.”
In her speeches, the lone female presidential candidate called on her supporters to vote for Pangilinan as well because that will make her job, if she becomes president, easier.
Robredo and Pangilinan went around Bicol, the Vice President’s home region, during the first week of the campaign. Despite Salceda’s only endorsement of Robredo, the senator was also in Albay to meet with supporters.

The spokesperson assured that Pangilinan is unaffected by such developments.
“And you know, Senator Kiko knows this. He's a veteran of many election campaigns. He knows that this will happen in the course of any election campaign, but he can rely (upon), and he is confident (of) the support and the continued trust of the Vice President, in the fact that she has never actually wavered once in supporting him and endorsing him,” he said.
“So, you know, that's the way that the two will proceed moving forward. They will run and they are running as a tandem,” Gutierrez said.
